The Pamenar Story
Founded in 2011 by Pouria Lotfi and designed by architect Guido Constantino — the team behind the acclaimed Buca restaurant — Café Pamenar was never meant to be just another coffee shop. Built inside a converted Kensington Market residential space, the long, minimalist room features a poured-cement coffee bar, metal pipe fixtures with bare Edison bulbs, and reclaimed wood that gives the space its warm, unhurried character.
By day it's a specialty café serving espresso-based drinks from Discovery Coffee Roasters (Victoria, BC), artisan pastries from beloved local bakeries, and free Wi-Fi at the communal table. As evening falls, gin takes centre stage — with one of the city's largest collections — craft cocktails flow, and local musicians fill the room. The rotating gallery wall spotlights Kensington's artists and photographers.
